Class at the Turnverein.

A physical culture class at the Lawrence Turnverein, taken by Squires of Lawrence. There are fifteen young women wearing white blouses and dark bloomers, and they are posing in front of a theatrical backdrop at the Turnhalle in a pyramid formation. The three at top are identified, left to right, as Rosa Albert, Lena Heck, and Mary Houk. The girls at right are Clara Rost (kneeling), and she is holding Emma Houk's hand. The girl stretched out behind Emma Houk is probably Carrie Heck.
This item was donated to the Watkins Community Museum by Ms. Louise Albert Mueller, and is presently available for viewing at the Spencer Research Library at The University of Kansas.
