The catalog has 96 pages and is filled with numerous black and white illustrations and two beautiful color lithographs. Both front and back covers are decorated with the colored lithographs; one of flower gardening and the other of vegetable gardening. The Barteldes catalog began in 1876 as a four page leaflet, with 1,000 copies distributed. Over the next few years, their annual catalog grew with the business and eventually the catalog grew to over one hundred pages, with more than 250,000 copies distributed.
