Member of the firs emigrant party, 1854.

Mr. Goss was born May 22, 1822, in Wakesfield, Vermont. Mrs. Goss was born Sept. 14, in New London, New Hampshire. George W. Goss and Miss Susan Chadwick Morgan were married June 14, 1847 at Randolf, Vermont.

In 1854, they came to Kansas in the first Emigrant Aid party, with three friends. The old Goss home was later known as the Jewett place and would be on what is now south Louisiana St. located in about the 2200 block. They had two daughters who attended the University in the 1870’s, Alice and Carrie. They also had one son George. Alice became a practicing physician and Carrie an Osteopathic doctor. They were located in San Francisco, California. Mr. and Mrs. Goss also lived in California in later years.

Carrie Goss married and became Mrs. Carrie Goss Haskell, on September 20, 1931. The sisters sent these pictures of their parents to the Lawrence Room, for they said, “We are glad to have them placed among others that worked in Kansas in the early days.” The pictures arrived February 8, 1932 and were placed in the Lawrence Room.
