From the very beginning, the First Christian Church has changed lives. Founded in 1884, the 25 members met at each other's homes until the congregation grew to 100. Knowing the urgent need to find a permanent dwelling they purchased Universalist Church, a frame building at 11th and Kentucky. The building was built in 1872, and was only used by FCC (First Christian Church) from 1884-1908. | ||

A revival held in the park jumped the church membership by 330 new people. The building was sold to the Friends Church while a new building was being erected to fit the growing church population. A larger building that could accommodate everyone was then built at the corner of 10th and Kentucky. Donations played a key role in raising money to pay for the building. The church greatly benefited from its new home; In 1947 a fire caused significant damage to the sanctuary that would later be rebuilt and remodeled. |

building. The pillars located on the back continue the pattern around
the whole church.

In 1962, an additional building was added to the church: It was connected to the first building by a covered walkway. The church, as a whole was able to function more efficiently with the new addition. In 1991 a 2nd addition was being added in the middle of the 1st two buildings making it one giant building composed of three sections |
