Underground Railroad Conductors and Hiding Places
in Lawrence and Douglas County, Kansas

Underground Railroad participants are not easily identified and hiding locations are not well known. Local historians have identified as many as 48 locations in the Wakarusa Valley area. We hope to help in the effort to photograph and document as many locations as possible. Some people and places already included in our archives are:
